Who is Romy Mars?

Sofia Coppola's teenage daughter was not even allowed to have a social media platform, but just went viral after being grounded for trying to charter a helicopter... to dinner

I don’t think I even knew that Sofia Coppola and Thomas Mars had daughters, but you’re going to be hearing a lot about Romy Mars, 16, over the next few days for any number of reasons:

1. She went viral, but wasn’t even supposed to have a social media platform (for this very reason) and dropped a hint that she was kin to a who’s who by holding a grammy

2. She’s grounded for trying to charter a helicopter to dinner

3. She doesn’t know the difference between an onion, garlic or a shallot

4. She claims her parents are never home and the internet is going to lose their meddling minds

5. She quickly deleted it, but just wasn’t fast enough

6. She discloses that her parents don’t want her to be a nepotism baby, then jokes that she should have social media, convinced that, “TikTok is not going to make me famous, so it doesn’t really matter.” Oops.

To note, she is also known as Romy Croquet, as it’s Thomas Mars’ real surname.

I wanted to see if she’d been in the public eye before and she is already a nepo baby. At around 14, she shot this ad campaign for Marc Jacobs’ HEAVEN label, a shop I’ve shot here in a past post on LA’s Fairfax Avenue. Her mother also famously modeled for Marc’s campaigns. Teen Vogue mentioned that Romy had styled her own shoot, which already makes her a budding creative, but now already a quirky storyteller, too?

Will she be a hero at school in the morning? This girl’s got good comedy timing and I hope she’s a budding filmmaker in the making. I think she’s one to watch.
