I’ve been recalibrating Easily Entertained behind the scenes. I’ll be leaning into quirkier pop culture fare and multimedia obsessions, plus trends I’m spotting on the streets, including fashion, lifestyle and socially relevant food spots & shops.

I’ve been in the vortex and have now produced and hoarded, literally, a thousand things this year - from TV and Digital series I’m pitching - to video shorts and fine art. Well, how fine remains to be seen. Let’s call it… experimental art.

If you’re new here, I’m a curious bird, so I often add more to posts after I publish, so it’s best to click through to the substack vs the email for additional factoids, trivia and eye candy.

Short Shorts

I’m also slowly editing a sliver of the video I’ve collected. It’s less about social media numbers for me and more about sharing the moments most people don’t get to to see. [The next story section about a band is the perfect example]. I shot the street fashion video above on the corner of Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue and loved the intersection of the guy’s lavender overalls and woman’s similar floral hues and ironic suede boot option.

Instagram chose the song, Summer on the Inside, and I can’t stop humming it. Try it.

Hollywood Adjacent

Earlier this week, I ran an errand in a hip area of LA called Franklin Village, blocks from streets that lead to the Hollywood sign and iconic hotspots where the movie “Swingers” was shot. (If you haven’t seen it, please do. It’s spot on for that era).

I ran into the musician below, Pat Salway a/k/a Blone Noble, who was hammering band flyers for tonight’s single release party.

I asked if I could shoot him “because it’s something people outside of LA don’t get to see.” He was cool, but I thought he had said “Blown Elbow,” so he schools me in the video.

The point is, I’ve started this STREET VIEW series as longer POV vlogs to share anomalies. Take a look. IG posts look wonky on substack, so this one is from my newer TikTok. My fascination was really rooted in the metaphor of watching a stranger chasing the American dream of sorts, you know? I guess I’m doing it too, but that’s subjective.

My Friend Had a Book Signing!

Thursday night, I went to my friend Brandon Hoàng’s YA book signing at Skylight Books in Los Feliz. Kind of a mob scene in a little shop and they sold out, mmmkay. We used to work in the same office and I hadn’t seen him IRL for years. While I went the comedy and pop culture exec route, he went the animation executive route at Nickelodeon and Netflix, before his wife Beth convinced him that he should pursue writing full time! He’s now a TV writer by day, who morphs into a novelist at night.

During the Q&A, he told a funny story about how he sold this book during a call that was supposed to be just a ‘general meeting’ with a publisher.

Click the photo or here to peek Amazon. Buy a copy! I can’t wait to read it.

"Gloria Buenrostro Is NOT My Girlfriend

Congrats, Brandon!

I just realized that all my social media posts this week had purple content.

Circling back to the music in the headline, I was curious about the song in the overalls video and keep hearing the keys in my head. Here’s a look at the guys making Summer on the Inside “live” across countries. It’s a vibe, (I’ve decided).

Meme Moments

If you’re not already up on the Pinegrove trend, I’ve been looping [just] this guy’s version of the dance for weeks, and of course, the sometimes alone cat. Here’s the extended origin of that meme.
