Behind the Scenes at Jeremy Scott’s Fashion Show

I thought I lost all these 2 Chainz photos that I just cut into the IG video below and have more backstory on the significance of finding them. You can probably ascertain that shooting “arrivals” before Jeremy Scott’s New York Fashion Week shows tends to be chaotic, but in a good way.

It’s usually a visual feast that you’ll see for yourself in the upcoming “Models with a Selfie Stick” post.

So, let me set the stage. It’s 2014 and this black sprinter style cruiser rolls up to Jeremy’s fashion show right before showtime, so I know it’s someone big. Two charismatic guys jump out and one of them lets the staff know they’ve arrived.

The crowd goes NUTS as 2 Chainz and his guys exit the shuttle. I mean NUTS.

I got a few initial shots, but the crowd closes in on him. I’m short and instantly blocked. Keep in mind that I’m holding up my Canon 7D up over me and shooting down blindly, hoping to get anything in focus before I lose him, which explains some weird angles and soft focus shots. I’m not printing the other photos at this time, so scan the video if you’re curious to see more.

2 Chainz IG Stories are Addicting

I’ve mentioned before that I love watching 2 Chainz’s (2 Chainz’?) IG stories. He and his wife Kesha have the best designer gift haul videos and I also get to watch them sit courtside and get signed jerseys from players on the spot. Random, I know.

On the flip side to all that fancy stuff, I loved his very humble birthday IG post. He had just finished riding his lawn mower around to cut his own massive lawn for the very first time and is standing there smoking and contemplating, after his incredulous wife had tried to determine what was happening.

He says, in case you don’t watch the post, “I waited til my birthday to cut the grass because it was a gift to myself.” He explains that he lived in an apartment first, was paying people to do it after his success — and that he “had a ball.” Something cool about witnessing that raw moment from her POV.

(BTW, it looked like his actual party had happened over the prior weekend and a dressed up dude slipped into the pool). I know way too much about this family and need to get a life. Or maybe they just need a TV show! Hire me.

Some backstory:

I thought I lost all but one of these 2 Chainz photos that I shot during a past New York Fashion Week shoot — and have been scratching my head over it for almost a decade. (I did have laptop and hard drive blow ups, with more still MIA). I could’ve sworn I shot more, but maybe I just imagined it? Then they fell into my virtual lap.

I tell you - something is in the air this week - because:

1. I happen to find 2 Chainz fashion show photos - on his actual birthday?

2. I had a vibe to post the TELFAR street fashion photo - on the very day the brand was due to release their fall color collection [that sold out in an instant, btw]?

3. I was looking for my ipad and found an old MTV Movie Award ticket in my ‘ephemera’ folder the night before the VMAs? Then get an email from The Insider that this happens to be a historic VMAs as all the Artist of the Year nominees are women?

I’m listening to the universe and am literally leaning forward this week - to start posting all stories as they come to me, even if I post a rough draft. I think decluttering my files, my head and my home over the last week has opened a portal - and I’m all in.
