Flavor Flav supported the WGA today and I was capturing this woman across the street

The Writers Guild of America strike is stressing all production types out in Los Angeles as it’s a touchstone for many of us. As a reminder, I’m an unscripted Executive Producer, and the uncertainty of the writer’s strike has screeched the majority of work to a halt, at the same time that unscripted budgets are being frozen.

I support the WGA!

I planned to get some strike footage for you today, but the crowds had thinned out in the afternoon heat. On the way back home, from my dirty car window (that’s real life), I happened to catch a compelling striker who stepped into the intersection while a small group held court, curbside, out of view. I thought that Universal’s Stage 43 in the backdrop, toward the end of the clip, felt symbolic. Her sign says WGAW, which is Writers Guild of America West.

Reports of Flavor Flav supporting strikers outside Warner Bros, just a few hours earlier, popped up on my news feeds, shown below. This would’ve happened just across the street, down the road from my shot above.

By the way, I got to meet Flavor Flav when I was an E! Development Executive and he was giving out hugs in the hallway after his meeting with the heavies. To note: he gives the warmest, epic hugs and his spirit is infectious. Check out his pep talk on Instagram.
