That was then. —> I found this in my files, looking for casual photos. I landed a handful of street fashion images in The New York Times while I lived there in 2011-2012, but this was my first ‘above the fold.’ I’m pretty sure I screamed. I didn’t think to pick up the print version.

I was still on Blackberry time in the city and didn’t switch to iphone 4 (!) until I was on my way out. I had been resisting social media for a decade,
